WGOLF Awards Announced

GU's Ruffolo, SHU's Aguilar Earn Honors

NEW YORK (May 2, 2025) – In a vote of the men’s golf head coaches, Georgetown senior Georgia Ruffolo has been named BIG EAST Player of the Year and Seton Hall freshman Marta Aguilar has been selected BIG EAST Freshman of the Year.
A seven-member All-BIG EAST Team also was chosen. The team includes four repeat selections from last year.

The league champion Xavier coaching staff was named BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year.

Ruffolo, a senior from Tampa, Fla., is the Georgetown team leader with a 74.53 stroke average. She produced five rounds under par this season, including back-to-back under-par rounds twice. Her 3-under 69 was a season-best round for the Hoyas. It is the second straight year that Ruffolo has earned all-conference honors.

Seton Hall’s Aguilar compiled one the top freshman seasons in program history. The rookie from Casares Malaga, Spain, tied for third place at the BIG EAST Championship. She won two tournament titles and was named BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week three times. She finished the season with a 74.46 stroke average.

In addition to Ruffolo and Aguilar, five other golfers earned All-BIG EAST Team honors.

Georgetown’s Megan Gormley ranked second on the team to Ruffolo with a 74.57 average. Gormley tallied two rounds under par and at par for the season. She tied for third place at the 2025 BIG EAST Championship. Gormley was the BIG EAST Player of the Year in 2023-24. She has been All-BIG EAST four times.

Xavier’s Kara Carter is one of four Musketeers earning All-BIG EAST recognition. Like Gormley, Carter earned All-BIG EAST honors for the fourth time in her career. She compiled a 74.3 stoke average in 121 career rounds. Carter has 16 top-10 finishes and two first-place finishes. This season, she leads the Musketeers with a 74.4 stroke average.

Carter’s freshman teammate Isabel Brozena, ranked second on the team with a 74.6 stroke average. Brozena tied for eighth in the BIG EAST Championship and posted four top-10 finishes in 2024-25.

Xavier’s Emma Welch won the BIG EAST Championship individual title for a second straight year. She fired an even-par 214, which included a final-round of 4-under 68. Her season stroke average is 75.9.

Xavier’s Madison Reemsnyder finished as the runner-up at the BIG EAST Championship. She posted six top-10 finishes and owned a 75.0 stroke average. The junior was an All-BIG EAST Team selection in 2022-23.

The Xavier coaching staff, led by head coach Breanna Jenco, earns BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year honors for the sixth time. She has directed the Musketeers to a record sixth-straight BIG EAST Championship and has guided the program to six NCAA Championship appearances.
