BIG EAST Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Marco Langon, Villanova, Sr.
Langon recorded a time of 7:34.56 in the men’s 3000 meters at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, setting a Villanova school record and ranking fourth in collegiate history. The senior finished fifth against a field of professional and elite collegiate runners and currently holds the fastest time in the NCAA this season.
BIG EAST Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Nora Haugen, St. John’s, Sr.
Haugen opened her 2026 season in the women’s 800 meters at the Dr. Sander Scorcher USA Pro/Elite, breaking her own school record with a time of 2:03.90. The senior finished seventh in a field featuring professional and elite collegiate runners, with her mark ranking fourth nationally and leading the BIG EAST.
BIG EAST Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Marshall Potter, UConn, Fr.
Potter set a personal best in the shot put at the Penn Elite, winning the event with a throw of 17.99m, the second-best mark in UConn program history. The freshman currently leads the BIG EAST and ranks 44th nationally in the shot put.
BIG EAST Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Maresa Hense, UConn, So.
Hense set a UConn program record in the pentathlon at the Penn Elite Multi-Events, winning the competition with 4,201 points. The sophomore sealed the victory with a 2:11.00 performance in the 800 meters and now ranks third nationally in the event.
Notable Performances
- Butler’s Jesse Hamlin won the men’s mile at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion with a time of 3:56.72, setting a facility record and ranking 17th nationally.
- DePaul’s Daniel Fasasi won the 400 meters at the Notre Dame Invitational with a season-best time of 47.42, ranking first in the BIG EAST and 42nd nationally.
- DePaul’s Isabella Orozco won the 1000 meters at the Notre Dame Invitational in a personal-best 2:49.17, breaking the DePaul school record by more than two seconds.
- Marquette’s Danny Olsen won the 400 meters at the GVSU Bill Clinger Classic in 48.21 and also placed fourth in the 200 meters in 21.71.
- Villanova’s Maria Deaviz broke her own school record in the shot put with a mark of 16.46 meters at the Penn Elite, moving to No. 21 nationally this season and maintaining her lead in the BIG EAST.
- Villanova’s Lizzie Martell won the 800 meters at the Penn Elite in 2:06.58, moving to 19th nationally this season, and ran a personal-best 55.53 split on Villanova’s second-place 4x400 meter relay.
