CAYCE, S.C. – Following tightly contested 4-3 victories in the semifinals, top-seeded Xavier and No. 2 DePaul will meet in the 2026 BIG EAST Women’s Tennis Championship on Sunday at the Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center. Action is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. ET, following the men’s Championship at 9 a.m.

The Championship match will be streamed on ESPN+ with live stats available on iOnCourt.

The Musketeers seek their sixth record-tying sixth consecutive BIG EAST title while the Blue Demons look to claim their fifth overall crown. Xavier and DePaul have met in the Championship in five of the last seven seasons.

#1 Xavier, 4, #5 UConn, 3
Xavier held off UConn, 4-3, to advance to the title match for the seventh consecutive season. The Musketeers picked up the doubles point with victories at No. 1 (Abby Nugent/ Clara Owen def. Chloe Lomans/ Ela Platenikova, 6-2) and No. 3 (Emily Flowers/Natalie Smitek def. Isabella Asenov/Cameron Didion, 6-1).

Xavier logged the first singles point with a win on the top court from Nugent (def. Platenikova, 6-2, 6-3). UConn answered at No. 2 singles behind a straight set victory from Chloe Lomans (def. Rexroat, 6-4, 7-5).

The Musketeers moved to 3-1 with a win on the fifth court  from Owen over Madison McLeod (6-1, 4-6, 7-5). Despite going down 5-2 in the third set, Owen came from behind claim the decisive third frame, 7-5.

Victoria Matos countered for the Huskies, holding off Ellasyn Deford at No. 4 [7-6 (3), 0-6, 6-4]. Isabella Asenova leveled the score, 3-3, with a come-from-behind win at No. 6 singles (3-6, 6-3, 6-3).

Flowers clinched the match in Xavier’s favor, rebounding to defeat Didion on the third court (2-6, 7-5, 6-4).

#2 DePaul, 4, #3 St. John’s 3
DePaul secured a 4-3 win over St. John’s to return to the title match. The Red Storm registered the doubles point with wins at No. 2 (Noemi Babikova/Victoria Papadopoulou def. Eleanor Cochran/Sasha Stula, 6-4) and No. 3. (Giulia Bizzari/Charlotta Buss def. Helin Alvarez/Roberta Sechi, 6-1).

The Red Storm claimed the first singles point of the afternoon with a win on the fifth court from Buss (def. Clara Nilsson, 6-0, 6-4). Her teammate, Babikova, added another victory on the second court, overcoming Hannah Smith, 6-3, 6-4.

DePaul answered at No. 1 singles with Sasha Stula holding off Papadopoulou, 7-5, 6-3. Fellow Blue Demon Roberta Sechi added another victory on the fourth court, defeating Nicoline Sartz-Lunde in straight sets (6-4, 6-3).

Pehlivan leveled the score at 3-3, coming from behind to win over Nao Kojima, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2. Alvarez clinched the match at No. 6 singles, defeating Bizzari by the same result (5-7, 6-3, 6-2).
