CAYCE, S.C. – Top-seeded Xavier defeated No. 2 DePaul, 4-1, to win the 2026 BIG EAST Women’s Championship presented by JEEP. The victory marked the Musketeers sixth consecutive crown, matching the BIG EAST record set by Notre Dame (2008-13).

Xavier earned the league’s automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship. They will learn their opponent and schedule during the NCAA Selection show on Monday, April 27 at 4:30 p.m. ET on NCAA.com.

Abby Nugent (XU) was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player after contributing three straight set victories at No. 1 singles, including the Championship-clincher, and a trio of doubles victories on the top tandem court with teammate Clara Owen.

Deford contributed the afternoon’s first singles win, besting Roberta Sechi on the fourth court (6-0, 6-3). DePaul answered on the fifth court behind a 7-5, 6-2 victory from Nilsson over Owen.

Rexroat followed at No. 2 singles, defeating Smith in straight sets (6-3, 6-3).

Nugent clinched the match on the top court, fending off Sasha Stula, 6-4, 7-5.
