BIG EAST Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Tinoda Matsatsa, Georgetown, Jr.
Matsatsa delivered a standout performance at the Virginia Challenge, winning the 800m Invitational with a season-best time of 1:45.12. The junior shattered both the meet and facility records, posting the third-fastest time in the NCAA this season and the top mark in the BIG EAST.
 
BIG EAST Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Kettia Ambrose, Nyla Henderson, Leilani Robinson, and Chinenye Onourah, St. John’s
The St. John’s 4x400-meter relay delivered an impressive showing at the UConn Northeast Challenge, clocking a season-best 3:35.36 to take first place. The quartet of Ambrose, Henderson, Robinson and Onourah posted the fastest time in the BIG EAST this season, while ranking 19th among Division I East Region “A” relays and 59th nationally.
 
BIG EAST Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Josh Mooney, UConn, Jr.
Mooney delivered a historic performance at the Mt. SAC Relays, breaking both the school and BIG EAST records in the decathlon with 8,033 points. The junior’s mark leads the conference, Northeast and East Region, and ranks second nationally this season.
 
BIG EAST Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Maresa Hense, UConn, So.
Hense turned in a record-breaking performance at the Mt. SAC Relays, shattering the school record in the heptathlon with 5,816 points. The sophomore’s mark leads the BIG EAST and Northeast Region, ranks second in the East Region, and sits seventh nationally this season.
 
Notable Performances
  • Butler’s Joe Pierro posted a personal-best 10.59 in the 100 meters and ran 20.98 to place second in the 200 meters, becoming the first athlete in Butler history to break 21 seconds. Both times qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary Round.
  • DePaul’s Alex Bernstein set a new personal best and program record in the hammer throw with a winning mark of 71.14 meters at the Gibson Invitational. The graduate student’s throw ranks first in the BIG EAST, sixth in the West Region, and eighth nationally.
  • DePaul’s Sade Miller won the 100 meters at the Gibson Invitational in a personal-best 11.44, also placing second in the 200 meters in 23.85. Her 100m mark ranks No. 1 in the BIG EAST and 84th nationally, while her 200m time is tied for the conference lead.
  • Georgetown’s Ida Moczerniuk posted a season-best 24.10 in the 200-meter invitational at the Virginia Challenge, moving to 10th all-time in program history and sixth in the BIG EAST.
  • Marquette’s Riley Ward reset the Marquette school record in the javelin with a 45.22-meter throw, finishing second at the Georgia Tech Invitational in a nationally competitive field. Her mark is the top throw in the BIG EAST this outdoor season.
  • Villanova’s Olivia Allen recorded a season-best 58.43 in the 400-meter hurdles at the Virginia Challenge, the top time in the BIG EAST this season. The mark ranks as the second-fastest of her career and places her 26th in the East Region.
