BIG EAST Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Marco Langon, Villanova, Sr.
Langon made history in the 1500 meters Saturday night at the Franson Last Chance, running the fastest collegiate regular-season race ever by a Villanovan. He clocked a lifetime-best 3:32.79 to move to second all-time in collegiate history and in the Villanova record book.
BIG EAST Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Marley Stoller, Marquette, Fr.
Stoller led the Marquette women at the Uncaged Eagle Open, placing third in the 400 meters with a time of 56.71. Her performance marked the highest finish by a Golden Eagles women’s track athlete at the meet.
BIG EAST Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Alex Bernstein, DePaul, Gr.
Bernstein won the men’s hammer throw at the Illini Tune-Up on Friday with a personal-best mark of 71.84 meters, extending his own DePaul school record by more than half a meter. The mark kept him ranked ninth nationally and sixth in the NCAA West Region heading into postseason competition.
BIG EAST Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Trinity Shadd-Ceres, Creighton, R-Fr.
Shadd-Ceres won the long jump at the Nebraska Spring Tune-Up on Friday with a leap of 6.40 meters (21-0), the top mark in the BIG EAST this season and the 20th-best jump nationally. Competing in just her second track meet, the redshirt freshman moved to 13th in the NCAA West Region rankings with her winning performance.
Notable Performances
- DePaul’s Katelyn Welsh placed sixth in the pole vault at the Illini Tune-Up on Friday, clearing 3.82 meters, just .01 meters shy of her DePaul school-record mark.
- Marquette’s Patrick Clune placed second in the 1,500 meters at the Uncaged Eagle Open with a time of 3:49.04, the eighth-fastest mark in Marquette program history.
- Marquette’s Henrik Rosario recorded Marquette’s top men’s field finish at the Uncaged Eagle Open, placing fifth in the long jump with a mark of 6.91 meters (22-8).
- Marquette’s Riley Ward led the women’s field events at the Uncaged Eagle Open, winning the javelin with a throw of 43.97 meters (144-3).
