BIG EAST Female Athlete of the Week
Jordyn Libler, Jr., Xavier (Howell, Mich.)
Libler won a pair of individual events, setting a meet record time in the process, at the two-day Akron Zips Classic to help Xavier finish second in the team standings. The junior took the top spot in the 100 breast, touching the wall in 1:01.49 for a new meet record and the best mark by a BIG EAST athlete this season. Libler swept the breaststroke events, also taking first in the 200 breast with another BIG EAST best mark (2:14.27).
The Michigan product also competed in the 200 IM, finishing in seventh with a time of 2:07.21. Libler completed a packed weekend with contributions to the Musketeer’s third place 400 medley relay squad (3:41.99) and led off Xavier’s 800 free relay “B” team (7
th, 7:41.86).
BIG EAST Male Athlete of the Week
Ethan Saunders, Sr., Xavier (Saline, Mich.)
Saunders contributed to three meet records and a trio of first place finishes at the two-day Akron Zips Classic, helping the Musketeers to a second-place team finish. The senior took first in the 200 breast with a meet record, and BIG EAST season-best, time of 54.62. Saunders then joined two record-setting relay squads, swimming the breaststroke leg for Xavier’s winning 200 medley (1:30.06) and 400 medley relay squads (3;16.91).
Individually, Saunders also took fourth in the 200 breast (2:05.20) and finished 11
th in the 50 free (21.25). He joined the Musketeers 200 and 400 free relay teams, taking second (1:22.83) and third (2:03.89), respectively.
