Butler and DePaul Share #BEtennis Weekly Honors

BIG EAST Women’s Singles Player of the Week
Delaney Schurhamer, Sr., Butler (Woodbury, MN)
Shurhamer went 2-0 at No. 2 singles as Butler picked up a pair of team wins this week. On Saturday, the senior defeated Dayton’s Natalie Oslecki in a hard-fought 6-4, 7-6 (3) victory. The following day, Schurhamer bested Ball State’s Elena Malykh 6-2, 6-2 to help the Bulldogs secure the essential doubles point in a 4-3 team win.

BIG EAST Women’s Doubles Team of the Week
Emily Casati (Gr., Deerfield, IL) & Yuliya Kizelbasheva (Armavir, Russia), DePaul
Casati and Kizelbasheva enjoyed a 2-0 weekend as DePaul bested Boise State (4-3) before falling to No. 24 Wisconsin (4-0). The pair defeated Boise State’s team of Pauline Enstberger and Shauna Heffernan, 6-2, on Friday. The Blue Demon duo then handed Badgers Xinyu Cai and Ellison Reynoldson their first loss of the dual season with a 6-3 decision on Sunday.
 
BIG EAST Men’s Singles Player of the Week
Leon Huck, Gr., DePaul (Freiburg, Germany)
Huck earned two victories playing at No. 1 singles this weekend as DePaul split the weekend versus Purdue (L, 2-5) and Marquette (W, 6-1). The graduate student defeated Purdue’s Stefan Simeunovic in straight sets on Friday [6-4, 7-6 (3)] before besting conference rival Blake Roegner of Marquette on Sunday [7-5, 6-7 (5-7), 10-5].
 
BIG EAST Men’s Doubles Team of the Week
Patrick Joss (Jr., Wellington, New Zealand) & Nicholas Shirley (Fr., Bloomington, IN), Butler
Joss and Shirley picked up a pair of wins, helping Butler to a 2-0 record this weekend. Saturday, the duo defeated Southern Indiana’s Dylan Brown and Guy Finkelstein, 6-0, at No. 3 doubles. The following day, the pair overcame BIG EAST rivals Kyle Totorica and Jorge Santamaria of Xavier, 6-3, in the Bulldogs’ 4-3 team victory.
