BIG EAST Women’s Singles Player of the Week
Olivia Wright, Sr., UConn (Glen Allen, Virginia)
Playing at No. 1 singles, Wright registered a pair of wins to help the Huskies to a 2-0 record this week. The senior defeated Xavier’s Elizabeth Pendergast in straight sets (6-1, 6-2) as UConn defeated the four-time reigning BIG EAST Champions, 4-3, on the road. The victory was the first by any BIG EAST opponent over the Musketeers since 2022. Additionally, Wright defeated Eastern Kentucky’s Masha Fedenko 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 to contribute to a 4-2 team victory.
BIG EAST Women’s Doubles Team of the Week
Eva Goncharov (Sr., Toronto, Ontario) & Hannah Smith (Jr., Silchester, England), DePaul
The ITA No. 67 doubles duo defeated a pair of conference competitors this week, helping DePaul to two sweeps. Goncharov and Smith surpassed Marquette’s Tiera Jarmond and Andie Weiss, 6-1, before besting Butler’s Brooke Arington and Chase Metcalf.
BIG EAST Men’s Singles Player of the Week
Ignacio Vinas, Sr., St. John’s (Buenos Aires, Argentina)
Vinas clinched St. John’s 4-3 victory over Northern Arizona, playing to a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 result over Jakub Prachar on the No. 3 singles court. The win moved the Red Storm to a program-best 14-0 start.
BIG EAST Men’s Doubles Team of the Week
Jona Gitschel (Sr., Hilden, Germany) & Marko Milosavljevic (Fr., Belgrade, Serbia), DePaul
Gitschel and Milosavljevic went 2-0 on the weekend, defeating Davidson’s Juan Camilo Perez Gongora and Davide Procacc, 6-2, as well as Charlotte’s Ivan Dreycopp and Frederic Schlossmann, 6-3.
