BIG EAST Player of the Week
Matt Licata, Villanova, Gr., A (Sandown, N.H.)
Licata scored a career-high five goals in his final game at Villanova Stadium to lead the Wildcats to a come from behind 14-13 win over Marquette. Down 13-11 with under three to play, the graduate attackman scored back-to-back goals in an 11 second span to tie the game at 13 and shift momentum. In addition, Licata picked up a ground ball in the game.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Gregg Dennison, Providence, Sr., D (Acton, Mass.)
Dennison led the Friar defense to a 10-6 win on the road at Denver, securing a spot in the BIG EAST Men’s Lacrosse Championship Presented by Jeep. The senior defender caused two turnovers and collected a ground ball, while limiting the Pios to just 14 shots on goal. It marked the first win for the Friars over Denver in program history.
BIG EAST Specialist of the Week
Jake Melchionni, Villanova, So., LSM (Bernardsville, N.J.)
Melchionni played a key role for Villanova on both side of the field in their win over Marquette. The sophomore scored two goals, becoming the first Wildcat defender to score twice in a contest since Chris Piccirilli in the 2013 BIG EAST Championship versus Syracuse. In addition, for the fourth straight game the sophomore caused two turnovers, while also collecting a pair of ground balls.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Jack Ransom, Georgetown, Fr., A (Charlotte, N.C.)
Ransom scored six goals and added an assist to finish with seven points in a 21-8 win over St. John’s over the weekend. Ransom made his first career start and tallied four goals in an opening 9-0 run in the first quarter. The freshman has 17 goals to open his collegiate career.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Aidan Carroll, Georgetown, Gr., A
Carroll scored five goals and added an assist in the win over St. John’s. The attacker also collected four ground balls and caused a turnover.
Anderson Moore, Georgetown, So., G
Moore allowed just five goals on Saturday and collected 9 saves to finish with a .643 save percentage.
Ross Prince, Georgetown, Fr., FOS
Prince registered a .764 percentage at the X, winning 13 out of 17 face offs and collected a career-high-tying seven ground balls.
Bobby O’Grady, Marquette, Sr., A
O'Grady scored four goals and added a pair of assists for a six-point day in a one-goal loss at Villanova. O'Grady's final score gave MU a 13-11 lead with 4:22 remaining in regulation. It is the 19th four-goal game of O'Grady's career.
Jack Horrigan, Providence, Sr., A
Horrigan tallied four goals to lead the Friars to a 10-6 road win over Denver and secure a top-four seed in the BIG EAST Men’s Lacrosse Tournament.
