No. 1 St. John’s Wins League Of Legends™ Fall Invitational BIG EAST Championship

St. John’s and Seton Hall will compete in the national Collegiate LoL Invitational.

NEW YORK – No. 1 seed St. John’s won the BIG EAST title in the College the College League of Legends™ Fall Invitational, defeating No. 2 seed Seton Hall, 2-0. The Red Storm went unbeaten in the tournament play with a perfect 4-0 record and did not surrender a point.

The matches were best of three in the game title, League of Legends, developed by Riot Games.

As the champion and runner-up, both the Red Storm and Pirates (3-2) were selected to take part in the next round of the College League of Legends Fall Invitational Championship hosted by Riot Games.

St. John’s received a national No. 6 seed and Seton Hall was picked as the No. 18 seed. The Red Storm will play the opening round against No. 27 RIT. Seton Hall will play against No. 15 UC Berkeley.

The competition is operated by PlayVS. Results will not impact team or conference standing in the 2021 Season in any way and no prizes will be awarded and is free for all participants.

Eight of the BIG EAST Conference’s 11 schools competed in the Fall League of Legends Qualifying Tournament. The BIG EAST is one of five athletic conferences participating in the fall League of Legends tournament. The Conference joins the ECAC, ECC, Landmark Conference and Mountain West Conference. Additionally, there are two esports specific conferences: Esports Collegiate Conference and Midwest Esports Conference.
