BIG EAST Esports Spring Season Jumpstarts Tuesday Night

NEW YORK – The spring 2025 Esports season starts Tuesday night for the BIG EAST, across four different major titles. Returning for the spring are League of Legends and Rocket League, along with the addition of Overwatch 2 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
 
The BIG EAST Conference, in partnership with Playfly Sports, is excited to jumpstart the 2025 season in a lead up to the BIG EAST Championship across the four platforms. Participating schools include Butler University, Creighton University, DePaul University, Seton Hall University, St. John’s University and Villanova University.
 
Rocket League and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will both open league play Tuesday night at 7 p.m. ET. In Rocket League, Villanova will face Seton Hall, followed by St. John’s against DePaul at 8:10 p.m. Creighton has a bye and will open the year on Monday, Jan. 27.
 
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Seton Hall takes on Butler at 7 p.m., followed by St. John’s against Creighton at 7:35 p.m. DePaul has a bye, and will open 2025 on Jan. 27.
 
Action will continue Wednesday, as week 1 of the Overwatch 2 season begins at 7 p.m. with St. John’s matching up with Seton Hall. At 7:35 p.m., Butler takes on DePaul. Creighton has a bye week to open the year.
 
On Saturday, Jan. 25, the League of Legends season opens with two matches at 3 p.m., Villanova versus DePaul and Seton Hall against Creighton. Butler opens the season with a bye week.
 
All four leagues will resume on a weekly head-to-head schedule over the course of five weeks, as a lead into each Major Titles’ respective playoffs.
 
The Rocket League postseason is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m., with the title match set for Friday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m.
 
The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament begins at 5 p.m. on Feb. 24, followed by the conference championship at 7 p.m. on Feb. 28.
 
The Overwatch 2 postseason is also scheduled to conclude on Friday, Feb. 28 with a start time of 7 p.m.
 
The first league to crown a champion will be League of Legends, with a scheduled title match on Thursday, Feb. 27 set for 7 p.m., following the first round and semifinal on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
