BIG EAST Esports Regular Season Concludes; Postseason Scheduled to Begin on Monday

NEW YORK – The spring 2025 Esports regular season concludes on Saturday night with a pair of matchups in League of Legends. Across the three other major titles, Rocket League, Overwatch 2 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, brackets have been solidified.

The BIG EAST Conference, in partnership with Playfly Sports, is set to begin postseason competition on Monday, Feb. 24 in both Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Rocket League.

This season, DePaul capped a perfect regular season in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, never dropping a round in any of their five matchups. At 5-0, the top-seeded Blue Demons will take on the winner of Monday’s play-in matchup between No. 5 seed Creighton and No. 4 seed Seton Hall. The Pirates and Bluejays will face off at 5 p.m. ET, prior to the scheduled 7 p.m. matchup against DePaul. Also, at 7 p.m., No. 2 seed St. John’s will take on No. 3 seed Butler. The Championship game will air Friday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m.

In Rocket League, Villanova edged St. John’s in a best-of-five series, 3-2, on Wednesday night to lock up the top-seed in the tournament with a perfect 5-0 regular season mark. The Wildcats will open the postseason against No. 4 seed Creighton (2-3) on Monday at 7 p.m., along with No. 2 seed DePaul (4-1) against No. 3 seed St. John’s (3-2) in the other semifinal contest. The two winners will face off in the title game on Friday at 7 p.m.

Postseason action resumes on Wednesday, Feb. 26, with the play-in round of the Overwatch 2 bracket. No. 5 seed Creighton takes on No. 4 seed Butler at 5 p.m., with the winner advancing to the semifinal at 7 p.m. to face top-seeded St. John’s. In the other semifinal matchup, No. 2 seed DePaul takes on No. 3 seed Seton Hall. The Championship game is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m.

The League of Legends regular season concludes on Saturday with a pair of key matchups to determine postseason seeding. Villanova (4-0) faces Seton Hall (2-2), while Creighton (1-3) takes on Butler (2-2). Both games are scheduled for 3 p.m. The Wildcats have already locked up the top-overall seed due to a head-to-head win over DePaul (4-1), the tournament’s No. 2 seed. The final three seeds are up for grabs.
