Xavier’s Imaad Qureshi has been named BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week and Creighton’s Kate Allen has been selected BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week. Qureshi registered a strong performance at the Xavier Invitational. Allen continued her strong fall season at the Ozarks National Invitational.
BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week
Imaad Qureshi, Xavier, Gr. – Qureshi posted his first top-10 finish of the season, and the second of his career, at the Xavier Invitational at Maketewah Country Club. He helped the Musketeers post a 54-hole team total of 881 (+29), ranking tied for fifth out of 12 teams. Qureshi finished the tournament tied for sixth with a score of 215 (+2).
BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week
Katie Allen, Creighton, Jr. – Allen continued her strong fall season at the Ozarks National Invitational. She carded a 222 (+6) with rounds of 72, 77 and 73 for a 10
th-place finish. The junior has placed 10
th or better in each of her past five tournaments dating to the spring. Her 72 in the opening round gives her three rounds this fall of par or lower and six career rounds of par or lower, which are both program records. As a team, the Bluejays were sixth of 15 teams.
Men’s Notes – Butler and
DePaul also competed in the Xavier Invitational. Bulldog freshman Henry Quinn tied for eighth place, shooting a 3-over 216. Quinn shot 75 in the final round after scores of 70 and 71. In the team standings, Butler tied Xavier in fifth place, while DePaul finished in eighth place, four strokes behind the Bulldogs and Musketeers. The top Blue Demons were Alex Vekich and Artemiy Yalovenko, who tied for 13
th at 218 (+5).
Women’s Notes –
Georgetown, St. John’s and
Seton Hall competed in the Lady Blue Hen Invitational. The Hoyas’ Lauren May was the BIG EAST’s top finisher, tying for third place with a 7-over 223 (73-74-76). The 223 was the junior’s best score of the fall. The Red Storm’s top performer was senior Jessie Kweon, who tied for seventh at 224 (78-71-75). The Pirates were led by Ludovica Busetto, who tied for 12
th at 10-over 226 (75-77-74). In the team standings, Georgetown tied for fifth, St. John’s tied for seventh and Seton Hall took ninth...
Butler placed second in a 12-team field at the Dayton Flyer Invitational. Katelyn Le tied for fifth individually. She shot 75 in the second round after an opening-round 71. Her total of 146 was 6-over.
