NEW YORK -- The BIG EAST esports season officially starts on Wednesday, Oct. 6 with play in the title Rocket League. Ten BIG EAST teams will participate in the split season competition which will go through March 2022 with championship play in April.
Wednesday’s contests begin at 5:15 p.m. ET with Providence facing off against UConn. At 6 p.m., Butler will take on Georgetown, followed by Marquette-Villanova at 6:45 p.m., DePaul-Xavier at 7:30 p.m. and Seton Hall-St. John’s at 8:15 p.m.

Play dates for Rocket League include eight weeks in the fall going from Oct. 6 through Dec. 1. The split season will pick back up Feb. 2 and continue through March 23.
The BIG EAST teams will also play against teams from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference as well as schools who do not compete as a league but are assigned to regional “conferences.”
Last October, the BIG EAST and EGF announced a three-year agreement that enables all 11-member schools to compete in a year-long multigame season for the first time as official EGF Collegiate (EGFC) league members. EGFC is the national Division I Varsity Esports League with a growing number of schools bringing their own elite teams together to vie for National Championships across a number of game titles.
