BIG EAST League Of Legends™ Regular Season Wraps Up Saturday

NEW YORK – The fall 2021 League of Legends™ schedule wraps up Saturday, as Marquette and Seton Hall are set to duke it out for the final spot in the BIG EAST Championship.

The fall competitions consist of a best-of-three round robin, with each team playing each other team once. The top-four teams at the end of the season will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 1 p.m. ET. The winners will then advance to the grand finals, scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 12 at 1 p.m. ET. The competition is run by Battlefy and results can be found HERE.

Each week, games will switch off by being streamed on twitch.tv/officialEGF or twitch.tv/BIGEASTesports.

Sharing 12 points in the standings with equivalent 4-3 overall marks, the Golden Eagles and Pirates are set to face off for the first time this fall, with the winner locking up a spot in next weekend’s semifinals.

Undefeated through eight weeks of play, St. John’s (8-0) has secured the top-overall seed in the tournament and has won 16 out of a possible 18 rounds this season. The Red Storm are on a bye for the final week of competition and will learn its next opponent on Saturday.

In a tie for second with 15 points, DePaul (5-2) and Butler (5-2) will square off on Saturday with the winner claiming the No. 2 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament.

The defending BIG EAST League of Legends™ Champion, DePaul came up short in full three round battles against both Seton Hall and St. John’s this fall, but overall have a 12-4 advantage in overall rounds won.

Butler’s pair of losses also came against Seton Hall (2-0) and St. John’s (2-0), while the Bulldogs hold a 10-5 lead in rounds won.

With a win on Saturday, Seton Hall would secure the third seed, based on head-to-head results, in the BIG EAST Championship semifinal and would face the winner between DePaul and Butler on Dec. 11. St. John’s on the other hand would play the latter. Marquette would be eliminated from tournament action in this scenario.

With a Marquette victory, the Golden Eagles would secure the fourth seed and would play St. John’s in the BIG EAST semifinals, while DePaul and Butler would earn a rematch, regardless of Saturday’s result.

Also competing on Saturday, UConn (3-4) faces Georgetown (1-6) in the regular season finale, while Villanova (2-5) takes on Providence (0-7).

Last October, the BIG EAST and EGF announced a three-year agreement that enables all 11-member schools to compete in a year-long multigame season for the first time as official EGF Collegiate (EGFC) league members. EGFC is the national Division I Varsity Esports League with a growing number of schools bringing their own elite teams together to vie for National Championships across a number of game titles.
