NEW YORK – The fall 2022 League of Legends™ BIG EAST Championship concluded on Sunday with DePaul capturing its third BIG EAST League of Legends
TM title in four seasons.
Entering the event as the No. 1 seed, DePaul came from behind to top No. 2 seed St. John’s and earn the 2-1 victory.
Overall, DePaul capped the fall season with an 9-1 (7-1 BIG EAST) mark, while St. John’s finished 8-2 (7-1 BIG EAST).
Both the Blue Demons and Red Storm earned hard-fought victories in Saturday’s semifinal action, with DePaul first squeaking out a 2-1 win over the defending spring champions and No. 4 seed Seton Hall.
In the second semifinal match, St. John’s won a grudge match against UConn, 2-1, after the Huskies earned the 2-1 win in the regular season. The Red Storm opened the game strong with a first round victory, before the Huskies bounced back in round two. However, St. John’s won the closely contested battle in the final round to advance to Sunday's championship.
The full 2022 fall slate consisted of a best-of-three round robin, with each team playing each other team once. After seven weeks and 36 completed regular-season matches, the top-four positions in the league standings were solidified on Nov. 12, with DePaul being crowned Champions on Dec. 4.
