INDIANAPOLIS – The spring 2024 League of Legends™ BIG EAST Championship concluded on Saturday with Butler sweeping the playoff field to claim a second consecutive BIG EAST League of Legends
TM title.
Entering the event as the No. 1 seed, Butler (4-1 BE) faced No. 3 seeded DePaul (3-2) in the title game, with the Bulldogs securing the 2-0 victory in the best of three series. For the second straight year, the BIG EAST Esports championship was held in-person at the Esports Park on the campus of Butler University.
In the opening round, Butler challenged No. 4 seed Villanova (3-2). In the match, the Bulldogs earned a 2-0 victory with a 4.567 KDA ratio, registering 43 kills compared to 30 deaths in the pair of rounds.
In the other first round action, No. 3 seed DePaul advanced to the title game with a 2-0 win over No. 2 seed St. John’s (4-1).
Competing in the third-place game, Villanova outlasted St. John’s, 2-1.
In a rematch of the 2023 title game, Butler once again topped DePaul to secure the trophy. The Bulldogs swept the three-game series, 2-0, opening with a dominating first game with 23 kills compared to just 10 deaths.
In a down to the wire second game, Butler prevailed with a 32 to 27 kill to death advantage. Individually, Butler Scy led the way for the Bulldogs with an impressive 17.5 KDA ratio.
