DePaul's Chery Named BIG EAST Men's Golfer of the Week

NEW YORK – North Chery of DePaul was named BIG EAST Men's Golfer of the Week. 

Chery finished fifth overall in the 90-golfer field - his second straight top 10 finish - for the Blue Demons at the Wexford Intercollegiate, held at the Wexford G.C. in Hilton Head.  The freshman carded a career best 5-under par 211 for the tournament.

Chery placed fifth to lead DePaul at the Wexford Intercollegiate.  The freshman opened with a 1-over 73 before firing his best round of the tournament - a 4-under par 68 during the second round.  He closed out play with a final round 70 (-1), earning his second straight top 10 finish on the leaderboard.  Chery tied for second among the field in par 3 scoring (2.83 avg, -2) and tied for eighth in par 5 scoring (4.67, -4).  He carded 12 birdies - second-most among all competitors.

Men's Notes – Two BIG EAST teams competed at the Wexford Intercollegiate (Xavier and DePaul)...the Musketeers placed second as a team, finishing with a team score of 873 (+9)...it was the ninth top three finish as a team over the last two seasons...X was led by freshman Cayse Morgan, who finished in sixth place with a 4-under total of 212 (71-70-71) - his third top 10 finish of the season...Seton Hall tied for eighth place as a team at the Loyola Intercollegiate in Goodyear, Ariz...SHU finished at 10-under par for the tournament, with a 54-hole score of 854 (286-284-284), marking the fourth tournament under-par in six starts in 2025-26...Will Hennessee led the Pirates, tying for 30th place with a 2-under par total of 214 (71-70-73)...UConn finished 11th at the Watersound Invitational in Panama City, Fla., with a team score of 850 (287-281-282)...the Huskies' Bradley Sawka was the top finisher, tying for 21st overall (74-72-69=209).
