2026 BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Tournament – Seeding Update
The seedings for the 2026 BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Tournament presented by JEEP are starting to take shape with just 10 games left in the regular season.
* The Huskies will serve as the No. 1 seed and have earned a first-round bye
* Villanova has clinched the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye
* Seton Hall has secured a top-five seed and a first-round bye

The UConn Huskies were named the unanimous No. 1 in the AP Top 25 poll for a seventh straight week, announced Monday afternoon. The Huskies remain the lone undefeated women’s team in the country at 29-0. Head Coach Geno Auriemma has led the Huskies to a nation-leading 655 appearances in the poll during his 41-year career, breaking a tie with Tara VanDerveer, who retired from Stanford in 2024.
 
UConn-St. John’s to Play at Madison Square Garden
St. John’s will host #1 UConn at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, March 1. The game will tip off at 7:30 p.m. on TNT/truTV. The two teams will meet at MSG for the first time in a decade. The game marks the Johnnies’ third-straight season playing at the arena and the first-ever standalone game. The Huskies are 6-0 at MSG since 2000, while the Johnnies hold an 11-7 record at the arena. UConn has a 52-18 advantage in the all-time series against St. John’s.
 
BIG EAST to Provide Public Availability Reports for Men's and Women's Basketball
Beginning in the 2025-26 season, the BIG EAST Conference will provide public reports on the availability of student-athletes in conference games for men's and women's basketball. BIG EAST schools will be required to submit these reports three hours before the scheduled tipoff. Under this reporting system, players will be designated as "questionable" or "out.” Availability reports will be posted on the BIG EAST website throughout the 2025-26 season. Women's Basketball Availability Reports
