OKATIE, S.C. – With sunny skies and temperatures in the low 80's, the conditions at Callawassie Island Club were ideal for the opening day of competition at the 2026 BIG EAST Women's Golf Championship presented by JEEP. Xavier holds a two shot lead after the first round of play, sitting atop a crowded team leaderboard with a team score of 301 (+13).
Georgetown (303) is two shots back, while St. John's (304) and Butler (308) are all within seven shots of the lead. Seton Hall sits in fifth (317), Creighton sixth (318), and Providence - playing in their first-ever BIG EAST Championship - are in seventh (342).
Madison Reemsnyder of Xavier is the individual leader after an even-par 72 on Saturday. The senior sat at 2-under through 15, before a double bogey at the par 4 16th. She closed with pars at 17 and 18. Seton Hall's Marta Aguilar and Georgetown's Georgia Ruffolo are tied for second - one shot back - with a 1-over par 73 on their scorecards. Aguilar registered four birdies during round one, while Ruffolo tallied three.
Kelly Wu from St. John's sits in fourth place with a 74 (+2), followed by a tied for fifth with Treva Dodd of Butler and Pihla Pennanen of St. John's with a 75 (+3). In total, 15 golfers are within five shots of the lead through 18 holes of play.
